Read-A-Thon Update - Wrap up

So for this Read-A-Thon, I learned that I really shouldn't work while doing it. I only finished one book, which is very much unlike me. I usually read really fast. Oh well. I had a blast. I was laying in bed and ended up falling asleep way before hour 20. I guess my body really needed the sleep because I didn't wake up until 11:30 this morning!

I hope everyone had fun and got more reading than I did accomplished. I can't wait to do it again!

Read-a-Thon Update #4

Hour 14 I've napped, I've eaten and I've read a whole book. Finally, a whole book. I'm picking up Knight of Desire by Margaret Mallory and gonna take a long bath and relax and read.

Check back in with you guys before I go to bed, which I'm assuming is going to be around Hour 22 or so.

Read-A-Thon Update #3

Read-a-Thon has been going on for about 8 and a half hours now. How're your eyes holding up? Anyone switch to audio books yet?

I have just been released from the prison otherwise known as work, so I'm settling in for the night with a book. I left Tempted on my desk (DOH!) So I'm reading a holiday book for All About {N}'s 2009 Holiday Book Challenge.

This book contains 4 short stories written by Judith McNaught, Jude Deveraux, Arnette Lamb and Jill Barnett. I'm about 1/2 way through the first story and it's so sweet!

I'm going to finish the rest of this story and the next one before I go and check on my fellow Read-a-Thonners!

I'll be checking back in around hour 10, possibly hour 12. See you guys then!

Hope your reading is going great!

Read-a-Thon Update #2

The Read-a-Thon has been going on for 4 hours now. How're you all holding up? I was finally able to settle in and get some reading done. Not much, mind you since I'm still at work. But enough that I feel like I'm contributing.

I'm currently reading Tempted by P.C and Kirstin Cast, it's the latest installment in the House of Night series. A series which I have to say I'm hooked on.

I also stopped over at I Heart Monster for her awesome give away exclusively avilable to people participating in the Read-a-Thon.

Well, back to reading for you guys and back to work for me. I'll be checking back in at hour 6, and should have hopefully gotten some more reading done.

Read-a-Thon Update Post #1

So the Read-a-Thon has been going on for 2 and a half hours, and I've read exactly squat. Unless reading e-mails and blog posts count (which I don't think it does). I had to work today, and in a tizzy I never checked to see if it would be okay to read at my desk, for those of you who don't know I work in a library, so it shouldn't be a problem, but alas I've got a ton of work to do.

So for awhile instead of reading I will be flitting around and commenting others Read-a-Thon posts. Don't forget to head on over to Dreadlock Girl Reads for all the master posty goodness!

If you need a break, and end up here, tell me what have you read so far today?

Make sure you check back over the next few days to see my reviews of all the books I've read, plus to see my final summary of what went down.

Read A Thon: 8pm - 9pm

Just finished The Boyfriend Game, super cute book. I've realized that for all these books I'm going to have to write reviews. If I post 1 review a day, it should last me up to the end of finals, which is a good thing. Then I'll be able to spend more time studying, instead of reading. Except we all know that won't happen. I'll just have reviews that never end. LOL

Read A Thon: 7pm - 8pm

This is a multi post post. It's going to have my answers for the Hour 13 mini challenge in it along with my new set of stats.

First things first Hour 13's mini challenge
1. What are you reading right now? The Boyfriend Game by Stephie Davis

2. How many books have you read so far? 3

3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon? Honestly any of the books in my pile. I've really put a good sized dent in it.

4. Did you have to make any special arrangements to free up your whole day? Just had to get up early, I was lucky that this weekend is my weekend off.

5. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? Other than the fact that my body was really tired, not really. All I had to do was take a quick nap. Which by the way was amazing.

6. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far? How supportive everyone is, and how active the twitter hash tag is (#readathon)

7. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year? Nope, this year was pretty awesome for my first one.

8. What would you do differently, as a Reader or a Cheerleader, if you were to do this again next year?

9. Are you getting tired yet?

10. Do you have any tips for other Readers or Cheerleaders, something you think is working well for you that others may not have discovered? I don't, just remember to get plenty of sleep and have lots of options for your books.

And now my new stats.

Title of book(s) read since last update:

I'm a little late in posting this update, but I blame it on the fact that I just went for a walk to participate in the Hour 7 challenge :)

I want to let you all know that I appreciate all the comments and such. I won't be able to respond to any until after the read a thon is over, because it would take me hours to respond. But never fear, as soon as I wake up tomorrow, I'm planning on going through and checking out all links and everything. I might even have a little something for those of you who have commented. :)
I also hope that if you visit the site today, you'll come back and check me out!

Thank you for your support, and keep reading!

Read A Thon: 7am - 9am

My pile of books for the ReadA Thon. It's almost as tall as Drea's couch!

Got to Drea's a bit late, but still managed to finish my book in a little under 2 hours. Not too shabby. I most likely won't get through my whole pile, but that's okay. I'm still going strong. I'm not sure which one I'll read next but it's an adventure!

Where are you reading from today? Joliet, IL

3 facts about me: I'm going to school to be a librarian, I'm doing this with my friend Drea, and this is my first ever read a thon :)

How many books do you have in your TBR pile for the next 24 hours? A LOT, I'd say roughly 24 or more, haven't really counted. You can see a picture at the top of this post

Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)? Nothing concrete. I'd like to get as much of my pile read as possible, and of course to keep tweeting and blogging about it as the day goes on :)

Off to check out some mini challeges, get something to drink and start my next book. Stay tuned!

Don't forget to follow me on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/riotxjess) and to check out some of the other people doing the read a thon!

My next update will come when I'm done with book 2. The next update will include a list of some of the people I'm following :)

Good luck, and as always keep reading!

Note from Jess: Read-A-Thon Preperation

Okay, so the 24 hour Read-A-Thon is this Saturday, starting at 7 AM. (Yuck! Mornings >.<) My goal is to read for the full 24 hours, I will be posting updates here and on my Twitter. Feel free to follow me over there - just a heads up though, I don't only post about books there and I may use some words that are not friendly.

So far for my book list I've got:

Perfect You by Elizabeht Scott
Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott
The Good Ghouls Guide to Getting Even by Julie Kenner
Fancy White Trash by Marjetta Geerling
13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson
Girl at Sea by Maureen Johnson
You are so Undead to Me by Stacey Jay
The Boyfriend Game by Stephie Davis
Eyes Like Stars by Lisa Mantchev
Wurst Case Scenario by Catherine Clark

My only issue with my book list is that they are all YA books, not that there is anything wrong with that. But I'm looking for a variety of books. I need more! Those books are not going to last me a full 24 hours. I'm betting that they'll only last me maybe 5 at the most.

So if you have any suggestions, please PLEASE leave me a comment here, and give them to me. I need to make sure I've got all my books ready to go by Friday night, since I'm heading over to Drea's house early Saturday morning.

Thanks in advance, and keep reading!
-Jess

Note From Jess: 24 Hour Read-a-Thon & Teaser Tuesday: April 14

Okay first of all I'm participating in Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-Thon this Saturday. So there will be an influx of posts on Saturday since my goal is to read for the full 24 hours, and review what I read and also blog about what's going on and how I feel and how I'm keeping myself awake. I'm also doing this with the Drea from Book Blather, as in we will be in the same room egging each other on, she had mentioned possibly V-bloging as well, so we shall see what happens. If you are interested in either being a cheerleader, or participating in the Read-a-Thon head on over to the main page of Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-Thon

Okay and now without further ado, it is time for Teaser Tuesday.

TEASER TUESDAYS is a weekly event, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading, where you ‘tease’ others with a little bit from the book you’re currently reading, making them want to read it, too!
How to participate:

  • Grab your current book and open to a random page
  • Share two 'teaser' sentences from somewhere on that page
  • Make sure what you share is NOT a spoiler
  • Include the title, author and page number so that others can read the book if they like the 'teaser'
  • Head on over to Should Be Reading and leave a comment on the Teaser Tuesday post there

This weeks teaser:

"Darkwolf's lips curled into a vicious smile as Elizabeth said in a horrified tone, 'What have you done?'"
Found on page 248 in Shadow Magic by Cheyenne McCray
